Philips McManus is the Professor of Urban and Environmental Geography, the University of Sydney. He is the Vice President of the - Geographical Society of NSW (Former President), the member of Institute of Australian Geographers (Former President), and Vice President of International Geographical Union 2022-2024. His current research focuses on sustainable cities, transport infrastructure and representations of nature in the construction of a range of environmental issues. His research on nature includes human-animal relations, particularly thoroughbred breeding and the uses of nature. His work combines urban environmental history with policy and planning research that is future-oriented.
